We first started in coffee way back in 1979 when we used to place free loan coffee brewing equipment in various businesses such as offices, garages, restaurants, hair salons, schools, cafes, bars, in fact anywhere there was a demand for good quality fresh coffee.
We loaned out the equipment against the amount of coffee the client purchased each month.
There were about 400 separate units on loan in this fashion and our expertise encompassed the whole process from sourcing machines and green coffee beans, to blending, roasting, grinding, packaging, boxing, delivery and posting. We also serviced the client with their re-ordering and ancillary products.
Coffee culture and the market for good fresh roasted coffee has increased in its many styles of appeal for the general public since then and the art of good production at home comes high on the food choice and taste list for the consumer.
So that we could satisfy that demand for Artisan Roasted fresh coffee direct to the client it was decided to bring back the traditional experience of the drum roaster in the high street like it used to be. So the idea of the Mobile Artisan Roasting Trailer was launched.
Because we did not want to see the complete demise of a perfectly simple and traditional skill that was once a feature of the ‘grocers store’ we bought the complete design rights of a well known drum roaster from the inventor himself.
This design of drum roaster is now known as the ‘Artisan Roaster’ we have two of them at the Roasting Cabin, "Dorothy & Sam" and they are the main tool of our Traditionally Flame Roasted Coffees produced at our Old Quarry Farm Coffee Roastery, we some times take our mobile roaster to selected food festivals and markets where our customers can see and smell great coffee being roasted via the Roasters Artisan "naked flame" traditional method.
